Sally Lehman

Sally Lehman is a Brisbane-based artist who brings a unique approach to her abstract paintings, resulting in a free, organic style that unfolds without constraint. Sally has a particular affinity with the tactility that painting offers, and enjoys the “controlled spontaneity” that results from applying and scraping away pigments. This technique, combined with a passion for colour, culminates in distinctive patterns and markings on the canvas.

Sally has been involved in the arts since the mid 1980’s when she studied at the North Adelaide School of Art. In 2000 Sally completed a degree in Computer Art and Design from the University of the Sunshine Coast resulting in new computer skills that provide her with the tools and technology to expand her creative base. As well as computer art she also creates original textiles where she combines her love of all things 50’s in her colourful cadillacs. Sally has many influences for her art including Richter, Matisse, Warhol, Arkley and 1950’s designers such as Ray and Charles Eames.

Sally also teaches children’s art workshops at her home studio.
